ok but highschool!cas making friends with an altogether older and more popular dean winchester - 

dean is a couple years ahead of cas at school

cas is openly pansexual, that’s unusual, so he has a bit of a reputation

dean recognises him when he turns up at bobby’s garage to collect some stuff for his dad

and he is curious

and meeting castiel only piques his interest

and for some reason

somehow

castiel is also intrigued

so he just keeps on coming back, inventing increasingly bizarre and elaborate excuses to justify his visits and apparent need for dean’s skills as a mechanic *wink wink* *nudge nudge*

until cas finally musters up the courage to ask the older boy out

and to his surprise (and dean’s own shock too, because he likes girls doesn’t he?) dean says yes

and okay maybe it gets a little cliché, maybe dean teaches cas about cars and cas teaches dean about the stars and slowly but surely they begin to fall in love in a way that only teenagers can

and instead of being known as the “gay kid” at school, castiel becomes the boy who changed dean winchester

because dean smiles now, he laughs, his eyes soften when he looks at cas and everyone around them can see the difference even though nothing has been admitted out loud - 

well, maybe they don’t need to say anything out loud.

because castiel novak loves dean winchester. and it takes him a while to see it - but he’s pretty sure that dean winchester loves him too.
